Weekend highlights:

On Sunday morning (7 Nov) Michael Donahue observed an adult SLATY-BACKED
GULL in the parking lot at the rendering plant in Tacoma, from 10:20 a.m.
until 11 a.m., at which point it flew off. To get to the rendering plant,
take exit #135 off I-5, which is the Puyallup and Portland Avenue exit.
Head north on Portland Avenue, turn left on Lincoln Avenue, and the
rendering plant is on the right, east and across the railroad tracks from
the parking area for the Gog-Li-Hi-Te wetland.

Yesterday evening Wayne Weber phoned the BirdBox to report three WHOOPER
SWANS -- an adult accompanied by two immature birds -- at the south end of
Mamit Lake, near Merritt, B.C. He and Andy Raniseth discovered the birds
at about 11:30 that morning (7 Nov). Mamit Lake, a moderate-sized lake
about 3.5 km
long and 0.5 km wide, is located along Provincial Highway 97C between
Merritt and Logan Lake. The south end of the lake, where the Whooper
Swans were seen, along with at least 87 TUNDRA SWANS and 2 TRUMPETER
SWANS, is located about 16 km (10 miles) south of Logan Lake. For updates
call the Vancouver RBA at (604) 737-3074.

The EURASIAN KESTREL was seen again along Chuckanut Drive in Skagit County,
Washington, on Sunday (7 Nov).

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL at Ocean Shores was last reported on Friday, November
5, at 3:30 p.m. Many birders looked for it unsuccessfully on Saturday and
Sunday.

The BirdBox phone number is (425) 454-2662.
