Finding A Hawk Watch
Geographical features such as peninsulas and mountain
ridges concentrate migrating raptors.
And where you find large numbers of hawks you are
also likely to find hawk watchers and established
hawk watch sites.
Hawk watch sites offer many advantages both to beginners
and to more advanced hawk watchers.
You can learn a lot from more experienced hawk watchers.
It also helps to have more eyes looking.
The Hawk Watch Directory below will help you find a local hawk watch
in North America. The sites are listed by state/province.
Another great on-line source for finding hawk watching sites and
about hawk watching in general is the
Hawk
Migration Association of North America (HMANA) web site. Another
useful resource is HawkWatch International's web site.
You can also find articles on hawk watching sites in the following magazine issues:
- Birder's World, October 1998
- WildBird Magazine, August 1998, August 1997
