A neighbor of mine always sees me looking at the birds. This morning he
called me just before 7 to tell me that he saw some very strange looking
black birds by the train station in Saco with the seagulls. So, I
grabbed my camera and walked around the building and spotted a flock of
about 25 Glossy Ibis in the grass, around a large mud puddle next to the
parking lot for the Downeaster. They let me watch them for a few
minutes before they took off and headed towards Biddeford and then came
around and followed the river south. Never saw them that close up
before, and never saw them on the island.
