Weather:
Strong southwesterly winds, overcast skies with intermittent showers until
steady rain closed the watch at l2:00 p.m.. Rain also prevailed to the
west and south of the watch site when we shut down.
Raptor Observations:
A truncated continuation of yesterday's nice osprey, sharp-shinned and
broadwing flights with all species, even the broadwings, flying in the
light showers (although in reduced numbers). When the front moved in with
steadier rain, migratory activity ended. The southerly winds concentrated
the migrants nicely at our lakeshore site where we spent the entire watch.
One non-migrating bald eagle; the migrating adult bald eagle flew by
observers below eye level and within fifty metres.
Non-raptor Observations:
Eileen and Bill Jowett, Mike Ceci, Tom Wasilewski and Jann Randell helped
with the count.
Predictions:
Clearing skies, colder temperatures, north winds and probably fewer birds.

the weather broke with some substantial groups of Broad-wings noted, groups
that would be knocked back abruptly when the winds switched and increased.
