[ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: Whip-poor-will From: Don Simons <Don.Simons(AT)ARKANSAS.GOV> Date: 22 Jun 2008 8:32am This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ----INCLUDING text/plain MIME SECTION---- This morning a friend and I started down the Benefield and Bear Hollow trails from the Benefield picnic area. A rustling in the woods brought our attention to an armadillo. Just as we saw him a whip-poor-will flushed from her egg on the ground and acted crippled. The armadillo ran right over the egg without breaking it. The egg is surprisingly very white with few markings for camouflage. I made mental notes of landmarks so I could find the site again. =20 =20 We were on the trail for over an hour. When we returned to the site it took us a few minutes to find her even though she was sitting in plain site. I shall return for photos when the light is better. =20 =20 Don R.
